Privacy Policy
Voxly: Voice Recorder ("Voxly", "the app") is built so that your recordings stay yours. This policy explains, feature by feature, what data the app handles, where it goes and what choices you have.
In short: your audio, transcripts and summaries stay on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud only if you turn on iCloud Backup. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. We receive only anonymous usage statistics and the purchase information needed to unlock Pro.

Summary
- Recordings stay on your device. Audio, titles, bookmarks, folders, transcripts and summaries are stored on your iPhone. We have no access to them.
- Transcription and summaries run on your iPhone. They use Apple's on-device speech recognition and on-device Apple Intelligence model. Your audio is not uploaded.
- No account, no ads, no tracking. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't build profiles.
- Anonymous usage statistics. The app sends anonymous signals about which features are used (never what you recorded), through TelemetryDeck.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, a technical report (without your content) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it.
- Purchases. Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment; RevenueCat helps us confirm purchases. We never see your card details.
- Optional features that you control: iCloud Backup, saving the place of a recording, Wi‑Fi Transfer and sending us feedback.
Who we are

What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Voxly iPhone app, its widgets, Live Activity, Control Center control, Siri shortcuts and share extension (Voxly in the share sheet), and to these web pages. Apps and services you choose to share recordings with have their own privacy policies.
Data that stays on your iPhone
The following is created and stored only on your device, inside the app's storage and the Voxly folder you can see in the Files app:
- recordings (audio files) and their titles, dates, lengths and folders;
- bookmarks and their names;
- transcripts and summaries;
- the place where a recording was made, if you allow location access and keep Name recordings by place on;
- your settings and the state of your Pro plan.
To let you find recordings in iPhone Search, the app adds their titles, dates and transcripts to the Spotlight index on your device. Widgets read a short list of recent recordings (title, date, length) from storage shared with the app on your iPhone. None of this leaves your device through us.
Deleted recordings go to Recently Deleted for 30 days and are then removed for good. Deleting the app removes all data stored by the app on the device.
How each feature handles data
Microphone. The app uses the microphone only while you record, including when the screen is locked (shown by the Live Activity and the iOS recording indicator). You can turn microphone access off in iPhone Settings at any time.
Transcription. Transcripts are made by Apple's speech recognition running on your iPhone; the app requires on-device recognition, so your audio is not sent to Apple or to us. iOS may download language files from Apple the first time you use a language.
Summaries. Summaries, key points and to-dos are made by Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence model, on iPhones that support it. Your transcript stays on the device.
Location (optional). Name recordings by place is on unless you turn it off in Settings. The first time you record, iOS asks whether the app may use your location. If you allow it, the app reads your location once when a recording starts and stores the coordinates and a place name with that recording on your device. To find the place name, iOS sends the coordinates to Apple's geocoding service; Apple's privacy policy applies to that request. We never receive your location.
iCloud Backup (optional, off by default). If you turn it on, the app copies each recording and a small file with its title, date, bookmarks, transcript and summary into the app's folder in your private iCloud Drive. Apple stores this under your Apple Account; we cannot access it. Turning the switch off stops new backups; you can delete the backup in iPhone Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
Wi‑Fi Transfer (Pro, off by default). While you keep it on, the app runs a small web server on your iPhone that only devices on your local Wi‑Fi network can reach, using a link with a random access code. It turns itself off after 10 minutes without use. Files move directly between your devices; no internet server is involved.
Import, sharing and export. The app only opens files you choose, files you share to it, or files you send through Wi‑Fi Transfer. When you share or export a recording or transcript, it goes to the app or place you pick, under that service's own terms.
Feedback. Send Feedback opens an email draft (or the share sheet) addressed to us; nothing is sent unless you send it. You can include device information (app version, iOS version, iPhone model, language and free storage) or switch that off. We use your message and email address only to answer you.
Notifications. Reminders, such as "transcription finished" or "your trial ends in 2 days", are scheduled on your iPhone. We don't use push notifications or marketing messages.
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn which features are useful and to find problems, the app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service built for privacy (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), which processes them on our behalf.
What a signal contains: what happened in the app, for example "recording finished", "export completed" or "paywall shown"; choices from fixed lists (such as the export format or a setting's new value); counts and rounded lengths (such as "1–5 minutes"); the type of an error, without its message; and general technical information (app version, iOS version, iPhone model, language and region, and whether Pro is active).
What a signal never contains: your audio, titles, transcripts, summaries, bookmark or folder names, file names, location, contacts, or anything you type.
How you are counted: to count how many people use a feature, the SDK combines a device identifier with a random value and turns it into a one-way hash on your iPhone before sending. The identifier itself never leaves your device, and the hash cannot be used to identify you or to link signals to you. We don't combine this data with other data, and it is not used for advertising or tracking.
We rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Because the statistics are anonymous, we cannot find or delete signals from a particular person. If you object to this processing, write to us and we will explain the options available.
Crash and error reports
When the app crashes, freezes, is stopped by iOS for using too much memory, or hits an error we didn't expect, it sends a technical report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., doing business as Sentry), which processes it on our behalf so we can find and fix the problem. A crash report is sent the next time you open the app.
What a report contains: where in the app's code the problem happened (a stack trace), the type of error, the app version, iOS version, iPhone model, language, free memory and storage, whether the app was in the foreground, and the last steps before the problem (such as which kind of screen was open, which kind of button was tapped and which of our services the app contacted, without addresses or identifiers). It also contains a random installation ID created by the SDK, used to count how many people a problem affects.
What a report never contains: your audio, titles, transcripts, summaries, bookmark or folder names, file names, screenshots, screen titles, location, or anything you type. The app does not send your IP address or device name with reports, and we ask Sentry not to store IP addresses.
We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Reports are not used for advertising or tracking and are not combined with other data.
Purchases
Voxly Pro is sold as an in-app purchase or subscription through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment under your Apple Account; we never receive your name, email address or payment details from Apple.
We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) to check purchases and unlock Pro on your devices. RevenueCat receives the App Store transaction information, a random anonymous user ID created by its SDK, and technical details such as the app and iOS version, your App Store country and your IP address. It uses this data to provide its service to us. See RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules.
Apple services
The App Store, iCloud, Siri, Apple Intelligence, speech recognition, Mail and location services are provided by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy (apple.com/privacy). If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iPhone Settings, Apple may give us crash reports and aggregated usage information that do not identify you.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads or include advertising SDKs.
- We don't track you across apps or websites, and the app does not ask for tracking permission.
- We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising.
- We don't require an account or collect your name, email address or phone number (unless you email us).
- We don't upload, listen to or use your recordings or transcripts, including to train AI models.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Contract: confirming purchases and providing Pro; answering your support requests.
- Legitimate interests: anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to keep the app reliable and improve it.
- Consent: microphone, location and notification permissions, and optional features you turn on (such as iCloud Backup). You can withdraw consent at any time in iPhone Settings or the app's Settings.
- Legal obligation: keeping purchase records where the law requires it.
Where data is processed
TelemetryDeck processes signals in the European Union. Sentry stores crash reports in the United States, where RevenueCat is also based; transfers to them are protected by safeguards recognized by data protection law, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Apple processes data under its own policies.
How long data is kept
- On your iPhone: until you delete it (Recently Deleted keeps recordings for 30 days) or delete the app.
- iCloud Backup: until you delete it from your iCloud.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to answer you, and no longer than 24 months after our last exchange, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Anonymous statistics: only as long as they are useful for the purposes above, under TelemetryDeck's retention rules.
- Crash and error reports: deleted automatically by Sentry after at most 90 days.
- Purchase records: as described under Purchases.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent. To use these rights, write to rocketeerstudio9@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days. Most of your data is only on your iPhone, so you can view, export and delete it directly in the app.
EEA, UK and Switzerland: you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California and other US states: you have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Other countries: we apply the same protections wherever you are, including under Brazil's LGPD and Vietnam's Decree 13/2023 on personal data protection.
Children
Voxly is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Recordings are stored with iOS data protection, which encrypts them while your iPhone is locked with a passcode. Data sent to TelemetryDeck, Sentry and RevenueCat is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Wi‑Fi Transfer stays on your local network and needs a link with a random access code. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, so keep a passcode on your iPhone and keep backups of important recordings.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
